Will There Be Postseason Baseball For Chicago?

100_chicago-cubs-logo1The Cubs are 5 over but 5 out. Still have injury issues. Still have bullpen issues. The Cardinals are hot again and 15 over. Wildcard chances seem slim right now. Looks like it will have to be the division crown or go golfing. Will the Cubs make the postseason?

logo_cws_79x76The Sox are only 2 over but just 2.5 out of first place. Major improvements with Rios and Peavy. Will that push them over the hump? Because it seemed like something was missing from this team. 60-58 will make you feel that way. But Detroit isn’t exactly killing the league and you have got to like the way the Sox finished strong last year. Can they do it again?

I think the Sox will make it and the Cubs will be sitting at home. Piniella gets the axe, warranted or not after the season.

    I’d like to think the Cubs have an easy enough schedule to nab the Wild Card, but they are far too inconsistent. I never know which team is going to show up on any given day. I think they get close but are home come October.

    If the Sox are still close on September 8 then I’ll buy. That stretch they have coming up is brutal.

    I gotta say I agree that the Sox are better positioned to make the postseason. The Cubs haven’t found any chemistry this season and there’s no reason to think they will now. I also agree that Lou is done after this season, though I think he’s going to just quit rather than be fired. I don’t think he particularly likes this team and I have to say I don’t blame him.

    Hendry had a major fail on Bradley, Miles, Heilman and Gregg.

    Cubs exercised their 2010 option on Piniella last year.

    Well, after tonights Gregg melt down, I’m thinking Lou is getting pretty tired of this team. :)
