ZONER’S NFL NOTES
I read this morning that Carson Palmer is the lowest rated passer in the NFL and has zero TDs and 3 picks through the first 2 games. It’s not a stretch to say that Bengals might not win until week 9 against the Texans.
The highest scoring teams in the AFC? The Broncos, Chargers and the…Bills? It’s true. Dick Jauron, offensive guru.
The excellent David Haugh of the Tribune writes that the Bears should sit Devin Hester this week and should not let Nate Vasher return punts this week. Haugh says, “Put rookie Earl Bennett back there and start getting something out of a third-round pick who should be involved on Sundays.”
Agreed. How ridiculous is it that the Bears draft a wideout in the 3rd round and he hasn’t caught a pass yet? You know who else hasn’t caught a pass yet? Mark Bradley. Of course you have to be active and play to actually accumulate stats. Wasn’t Jerry Angelo talking up Bradley as a #1 during the offseason? And Hester has just 2 catches for 13 yards. They haven’t tried him on a reverse either. All of that is aggravating to me.
It’s hard to not to dig the Cardinals with Warner, Fitzgerald, and Boldin. And a 2-0 start in a weak division is reason for optimism. However, they beat San Fran and Miami. I’m not saying I’m not a believer, but let’s see where they are after week 6. This week they at Washington. Then it’s the Jets in New York and Buffalo and Dallas at home.
