Czech Republic vs. Denmark – Preview and Betting Odds

The Czech Republic will take on Denmark in part of the second round of games in the preliminary round. Both teams play out of Pool D. This game will take place in Bratislava on Monday May 2nd, 2011. This will be one of the early games of the day; starting at 16:15.

It wasn’t easy in their first round game, but Team Czech Republic was able to down Latvia 4-2. Patrik Elias and Martin Havlat scored goals, while Ondrej Pavlec recorded 22 saves in the win. The Czech team got a nice lift right before the start of the tournament when they found Michael Frolik of the Chicago Blackhawks would be in action. He left after Chicago lost in game seven to the Vancouver Canucks.

The first round was not kind to Denmark, who were toppled by Finland 5-1. Denmark allowed Finland to score on three separate power plays in the win. Nichlas Hardt scored the lone goal for Denmark. The bad news for Denmark was they were only able to get nine shots on goal the entire game. The offense is going to have to improve for them to compete with the Czech’s powerful attack.

Czech Republic should win this game, but Denmark would certainly like to pull a big upset. The Czech Republic team is favored by 3 goals, and are still getting negative money for it. Betting the Czech’s straight up would not be advantageous at -500. If you like Denmark, you can grab them at +400. The best bet for this game is – Czech Republic -3. If you are betting the Czech team to win by three goals, you can have it for -140. Bet $140 to win $100.
