United States vs. Norway – Betting Odds and Preview

On Monday May 2nd, 2011 – at Kosice – the United States of America will get together with Norway as part of the preliminary round of the World Hockey Championships. This game will take place at 16:15. Both of these teams play out of Pool C in the WHC.

Team USA was pleased with their performance in their opening game win over Austria. Chris Kreider scored the opening goal for the American’s and they did not look back from there. Derek Stepan gave a beautiful pass to Black Wheeler a short time later to give USA a 2-0 lead. Team USA goaltender Al Montoya only allowed a Marco Pewal wrist shot in the win. The United States feel they have just as good of shot of winning the tournament as any team.

For the first time in 61 years Team Norway beat Sweden in the first round. Team Norway needed a shoot-out to record the win. In overtime, Norway had a ton of scoring chances, but could not capitalize. Norway is a very upstart team that likes to slow down the game, and make it a defensive game. They will have to deal with some of the tough brutes that the US team consists of.

The United States of American better be careful in this game. If they do not play well, Norway could come away with a win in this one. If both teams play as well as they can, USA should win this game. The United States are favored to win this game by two goals in some places and three in others. We like the USA at -2.5 for -125 betting odds. United States to win.
