NFL: Fisher out after 16 seasons in Nashville

The Tennessee Titans and Jeff Fisher elected on Thursday to part ways after 16 seasons. Fisher, who had an ongoing feud with quarterback Vince Young, has also not seen eye-to-eye with ownership over player personnel, and also coaching decisions.

Back in early January, when Fisher said Young would never play for him again, owner Bud Adams claimed the quarterback would be released or traded. Adams also said he planned to keep the head coach, Fisher.

Fisher’s final two seasons in Tennessee, his teams went just 14-18. Since 1999, the Titans have ranked 7th in the NFL in winning percentage. Also since 1999, the Titans have been to the postseason six times, but have not won a play-off game since 2004.

?The biggest success for Fisher and the Titans came when they lost in the Super Bowl to the St. Louis Rams. Fisher was the longest tenured head coach in the NFL.
